How to read it

▲ Expanding supply

New stablecoins are being minted — fresh dollars entering the crypto system. A steadily growing total is the structural bull case: more cash on-chain is more potential demand for risk assets.

▼ Contracting supply

Stablecoins are being redeemed for real dollars — capital leaving crypto entirely. Sustained contraction signals money exiting the system, not just rotating within it.

The distinction that matters: total supply growing or shrinking tells you whether cash is entering or leaving crypto, while stablecoin dominance (that cash as a share of total market cap) tells you whether it is deployed or sidelined. Read the two together. A rising supply and falling dominance is the ideal risk-on setup — new cash arriving and immediately buying.

FAQ

What is total stablecoin market cap?
It is the combined US-dollar value of every stablecoin in circulation — USDT, USDC, DAI and others. Because each is designed to hold a $1 peg, the total is effectively the size of the on-chain cash pile available to buy crypto.
What is the stablecoin market cap right now?
As of 2026-07-17 total stablecoin market cap is around $306B, based on open on-chain data. This page fetches the latest figure live on load and updates daily.
Is a growing stablecoin supply bullish?
Generally yes — a growing supply means new dollars are being minted onto chains, adding potential buying power. It is a structural tailwind, though it shows capacity to buy rather than actual buying, so read it alongside dominance and price.
Where does this stablecoin data come from?
Both the history and the live number come from an open on-chain stablecoin dataset, which aggregates circulating supply across every major stablecoin and chain. It updates daily.

The TT desk thoughts

We watch this as the crypto economy's bank balance. Persistent supply growth is the quiet bull signal that gets less attention than price but front-runs it: cash has to arrive before it can buy. The tell we care about most is a supply expansion into a flat or falling market — dry powder building while nobody is deploying it. Pair with our stablecoin dominance and USDT dominance chart, and the stablecoins thesis.
