Mt. Gox is the estate of the defunct Bitcoin exchange that collapsed in February 2014 after losing approximately 850,000 BTC. Mt. Gox holds BTC exclusively in trustee-controlled wallets under Tokyo civil rehabilitation proceedings led by trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi. Mt. Gox is winding down, disbursing BTC to creditors via Kraken and Bitstamp ahead of the October 31, 2026 repayment deadline.
